Effects of Internet
Addiction on Teenagers

Feel like you are spending way too much time on the internet
instead of doing something actually productive? Feel like you might
be addicted to the internet? Well don’t be surprised, but research
shows that 50% of teenagers actually admit to spending way too
much time on the internet! Furthermore, their parents also spend too
much time on the internet. That’s why asking parents might not be
able to help with your troubles but fret not my friends. This blog is

There are many beneficial effects that the internet provides for us,
but like any other thing in this world, it has its own pros and cons.
Some of the benefits might be fast communication, and availability of
information easily. Well, this might seem really useful especially for
a society like ours where the speed at which information travels at is
really important. At the same time, there are some terrible effects internet addiction has on us, for example, it
can have a huge impact on your social life. Since teens start
spending more time on the internet they start spending less time
with their friends and family, which might lead them to become
isolated. The people don’t know how to interact with each other
anymore and teamwork and cooperation is nonexistent.

One other effect it can have on people is that they start wasting
money on online games and such, as people try to achieve their
dreams in a video game. There are many games that are simulators
of real-life situations, and in most cases, you can spend real life
money to acquire some items that you long for in real life, but
wouldn’t normally be able to get because of their value. Wasting
money on these types of games can be really problematic, and
people go bankrupt to achieve what they want in these games. Some
people even go as far as stealing from their own company to achieve
their “dreams”(Young).

On the other hand, there are people who spend too much time in
front of the computer and their health issues are what they should be
concerned with the most. By sitting in front of a computer for an
entire day they don’t spend as much energy as they take in, which
might lead to obesity. By staring at the computer for a prolonged
period of time will cause the eyes to stress, which can lead to
worsened eyesight. Also sitting in front of a computer can cause back
problems because it tires the spinal cord.

Now, are you convinced by these effects that you shouldn’t be
always on the internet for both your social health, your health and
your wallet! Now that you are informed of the effects, start using the
internet and our time wisely to avoid them.
